Eid Al Adha
Eid al Adha will be on the 10th day of Dhul Hijjah, 1433 A.H., which may be Friday, October 26, 2012, according to the calendar. This is dependent on the sighting of the new moon to start the month of Dhul Hijjah, ten days earlier.
To commemorate The Great Sacrifice (Eid al Adha), Muslims all over the world are called upon to emulate the complete submission to the Will of Allah as demonstrated by Prophet Ibrahim, Alayhi As-Salaam, in consort with his first begotten son Prophet Isma’il, Alayhi As-Salaam.
“It is not their meat, nor their blood that reaches Allah; it is your piety that reaches Him: He has thus made them subject to you that you may glorify Allah for His guidance to you: and proclaim the Good News to all who do good.”
Al-Qur’an 22:37
One should not entertain the idea that our traditional sacrifice is that of meat or blood to Allah. It was a pagan fallacy that Allah could be appeased by blood sacrifice. Allah, The Most High, accepts the offering of our hearts. Allah does not delight in flesh or blood. Our actions are a symbol of our thanksgiving to Allah
